AN AMARANTE HEALTH EXPLORATION

How can I protect brain health?

Brain health is more than memory pills. It reflects sleep, physical activity, cardiovascular health, social connection and medical factors.

LEARN FIRST. CHOOSE WISELY.

01 / THE BIGGER PICTURE

Before the ingredient, understand the question.

01

Occasional forgetfulness and progressive, disruptive memory changes are not the same thing.

02

Sleep problems, mood changes, medications and some treatable health problems can affect attention and memory.

03

Exercise, mentally engaging activities and cardiovascular risk management are important parts of brain-health discussions.

02 / WHERE SCIENCE HELPS

What the evidence can—and can't—tell us.

Claims that a product improves memory or prevents dementia require human studies measuring meaningful outcomes. Laboratory effects or changes in biomarkers alone are not proof of benefit.

Different populations, doses and outcomes can produce different conclusions. A promising biological mechanism is not proof that a product improves health.

03 / QUESTIONS THAT MATTER

Three questions worth asking next.

  1. Is this normal distraction or a change affecting daily function?
  2. What sleep, medication and cardiovascular factors are worth reviewing?
  3. Does the study measure everyday cognition or only a laboratory marker?
